Wheat Varieties Released

The wheat breeding program at the Queensland Wheat Research Institute was led by Dr Paul Brennan from 1982 and included scientists with skills in plant breeding, variety evaluation, wheat cereal chemistry, pre-harvest sprouting, black point resistance and disease resistance. These skills resided both within and outside the Queensland Department of Primary Industries. The program was also supported by a dedicated and loyal cohort of technical officers. The credit for the varieties listed below (which also includes some released since Dr Brennan left QWRI must be shared by all the above and the many farmers who generously provided land for field experiments year after year without compensation. Also, breeder colleagues had prime responsibility for some releases.
