Academic Achievements & Appointments

Dr Brennan completed a bachelor’s degree in agricultural science majoring in plant breeding and genetics at the University of Queensland in 1965. He successfully undertook a master’s degree in genotype*environment interaction for wheat in Queensland from the same university. This was follower by doctorate studies at the University of Saskatchewan (Canada) concerning the development of durable resistance to wheat stem rust.

Subsequently, Dr Brennan was appointed as an external graduate student supervisor for the University of Queensland with Professor Don Byth and Drs Mark Cooper and Ian Godwin, for Sydney University with Professor Peter Sharp and to the University of Southern Queensland with Professor Mark Sutherland and Dr Grant Daggard.

Dr Brennan has held the position of Adjunct Professor in the Centre For Conservation Genetics at Southern Cross University with Professor Robert Henry.

Dr Brennan is a member of the Advisory Council to the Plant Breeding Institute at Sydney University which continues a long and fruitful association with Professor Peter Sharp.
